Female Tennis Players
There seems to be a huge impact in tennis hosted by female tennis players. Is it because they are attractive to the males or because women tennis players show other women that they can be anything they want to be? In order to even consider the answer to that question, one must look at female tennis stars and determine whether their fan base lies in the male or female fans. Certainly we know that female Russian tennis players impact both the male and female audiences: the men because they are hot women and tennis players, and the females because these are women who, in many cases, have risen from lower economic standards to make a difference in the world through their talent as Russian women tennis players.
Some of the women tennis players have now become household words, names that we recognize: Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, Anna Kournikova, and many more. Men, of course, like the pictures of women tennis players, but perhaps we shall give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they enjoy watching tennis as well. A sport that once appeared to have more male stars now boasts of several women tennis stars. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean they were non-existent, just that we weren't aware of the names of women tennis players until very recent years. Certainly the 70s and 80s brought us a few of the women in tennis as a player, but then it seemed to level off until the 90s in many areas. As the 90s approached, we began to see the list of women tennis players increase in size, and now perhaps the men are close in number with any female tennis player who may enter the scene.
Is there an increase in the number of women tennis stars at Wimbledon? If there isn't, there needs to be. The competition is stiff, but the women can handle it just as did early women in tennis. A player is only as valuable as the team they represent, and if women can take their team to victory, then they will have a lasting impact in the world of tennis. However, it is important to remember that women will always have to prove their worth in any place that has been dominated by males, but with the right training and coaching, we can see a change in the number of women tennis players who are winning the competitions worldwide.
